There are many effective ways to help reduce vaping overall and quit vaping indiviually. Educating students on the effects of vaping and establishing an anti-nicotine environment can help play as solutions to this raging issue.
Informing nicotine-users (or just students in general, to avoid nicotine usage altogether.) can help encourage students to avoid vaping as many young people who began smoking, didnt know the harmful effects it could have on their bodies. In the article "5 Keys To Reversing the Youth E-cigarette Epidemic" from Truthinitiative.org, the article states that:
"Reaching young people with the facts they need to make informed decisions is critical. Many young people did not know the health risks of e-cigarettes when they started using them. In fact, according to a 2018 study published in Tobacco Control, sixty-three percent of JUUL users did not know that this product always contains nicotine."
As an adult or parent, establishing an evironment that actively avoids the use and encouragement of nicotine use can signifigantly influence a students use of these products. In the article "Keep Kids and Teens from Smoking and Vaping" by The American Heart Association states:
"As a parent, you’re a powerful influence — even if your teenager seems to disagree with everything you say. Here are some of the most effective ways you can steer your kids away from tobacco:
"Maintain a dialogue...Begin talking with your kids about smoking and vaping in kindergarten. Be honest and open to seeing things from your child’s point of view. And don’t stop. Keep the conversation going as kids get older...Explain that smokeless tobacco, hookah and e-cigarettes all have dangers, including nicotine addiction...Discuss what they might say if a friend offers a cigarette or e-cigarette...If you smoke or vape, the best thing you can do is quit...Establish a smoke-free home...Make sure the places where your child spends a lot of time are tobacco-free."
